What's new in LogDog

v1.40.0

Latest

Group membership sync

Use Discord roles to manage who's in your other VRChat groups, like a staff group. When a linked member gains one of those roles, LogDog approves their join request or invites them, and it can remove them again when they lose it. This only handles membership: your logs still come from your main group. Find it on the dashboard under Role Sync > Group membership.

Give VRChat roles in those groups too

Each Discord role can also hand out one of the group's VRChat roles, so Discord Moderator can give VRChat Mod. Members get the role as soon as they join or gain the Discord role, and LogDog takes it back when they lose it.

v1.37.0

Pick multiple reason presets at once

Every Discord form that takes a reason (Add/Edit reason, Ban, Unban, Remove, and Deny on join and ban requests) now lets you pick more than one preset. Each one goes on its own line in your preset order, with anything you type added below.

Reason preset toggles on the dashboard

In the ban dialog and the log drawer, click a preset to add it to the reason and click it again to take it out. Line breaks in reasons are now kept when you save from the dashboard too.

Kick and warn logs show names

Instance kicks, vote kicks and warnings now show the member's name even if LogDog hasn't seen them before, instead of just their ID.

v1.36.0

Faster account linking

Members can now put their code in their VRChat bio or status, and the Verify reply updates itself to "Account linked!" as soon as LogDog finds it.

One-click /reverify

Members who linked recently can re-check their age status in one step with no new code. Useful when someone gets 18+ verified on VRChat after linking.

Link roles come back on rejoin

If a linked member leaves and rejoins your server, LogDog gives back their Linked role (and 18+ role, if they had it) with no relinking, as long as they linked in the last 6 months.

Set up account linking on the dashboard

Turn on account linking from the dashboard's Settings, even if your server never set it up in Discord. Pick the verification channel and link roles there, then post the Link Account message with /config.

See unfinished link attempts

The Linked Accounts page now lists link codes from the last 7 days that never went through, with a plain reason for each (empty bio, mistyped code, and so on). Handy when a member says "it's not working."

Role sync is way faster

A member's own role change, link or leave should now land in VRChat within a few minutes.

Blocked members get retried automatically

Move LogDog's role up in VRChat and anyone it couldn't assign before gets tried again within minutes instead of waiting a week.

Group owner is left out of role sync

VRChat doesn't let anyone change the owner's roles, so LogDog stops trying and those "cannot assign" warnings go away on their own.

Fixes

  • Mapped Discord roles a member already had now sync to VRChat when they link, instead of waiting for the daily check.
  • Resuming a paused role sync mapping catches up on the role changes made while it was paused.

v1.35.0

Flagged groups screening

List VRChat groups in Request screening and LogDog flags join requests from people who show one of those groups on their VRChat profile. Each group gets its own setting: Flag, or Auto-deny (a Premium perk).

Setup works with invite-only groups

If your group doesn't take join requests, setup now names LogDog's account (linked to its VRChat profile) so you can invite it, and LogDog accepts the invite by itself.

Getting LogDog back into your group

If LogDog's account is kicked from or leaves your VRChat group, it rejoins an open group by itself, sends a join request, or names the account so you can invite it back. The Discord notice and the dashboard tell you what's left to do, like giving the account View Audit Log again.

"Check now" during setup

LogDog checks for the View Audit Log permission on its own, every 10 minutes at first, and "I've done this, check now" on the dashboard setup page checks straight away.

New roles show up faster

Roles you add, rename or delete in VRChat now show up in the dashboard and /config role pickers within about one pull cycle instead of up to 6 hours later, and the Role Sync page has a Refresh roles button.

Permissions re-check

Give LogDog's VRChat role a new permission and LogDog picks it up within 10 minutes, so the dashboard stops saying "Missing" for something you just granted. Diagnostics has a Re-check permissions button, and the Overview shows when VRChat was last checked.

World names in instance notices

{world} now works in any capitalization, {WORLD} included, and in the custom blurb too. World names with special characters show exactly as written. The title template and custom blurb are Premium perks.

Fixes

  • Setup no longer says a join was blocked when LogDog was already in your group.

v1.34.1

Remove a user from your group

Take someone out of your VRChat group without banning them. Use the "Remove from group" button on warn and kick posts, /remove member, or Remove on their page in the dashboard. The log shows who removed them and why. Admins get the permission by default, and the new "Remove users from the group" permission can be granted to other roles, so they can remove without being able to ban.

Reason presets on every form

The ban, unban, remove and deny forms, and Add reason, now offer your server's presets for that kind of action. Pick one and add extra detail if you want.

Look people up by their Discord account

/getvrcuser, /getmodhistory and /ban now accept a Discord member who has linked their VRChat account. Right-click a member > Apps > VRChat profile does the same lookup.

Screening for open groups

If anyone can join your group in VRChat, screening now checks people as they join. A join that fails a rule is flagged on its log with the checks it failed.

Clearer update logs

When a setting changes, the log now shows old → new, with Yes/No for on/off settings, instead of raw data.

Dashboard bits

The Members chart now draws your real daily member counts next to the estimate, and "Log out everywhere" in the account menu signs you out on every device, this one included.

Fixes

  • A role deleted in Discord can be removed from your ping and permission settings again.
  • Post edits that only re-saved a post now show a normal log instead of a raw-data one.
  • A withdrawn join request no longer looks accepted or denied.

v1.30.0

Temporary bans

Ban someone for 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, or type a length like 36h. LogDog lifts the ban when the time is up and posts who set it. Every ban form has the Length option: /ban user, the Ban button on warn and kick posts, ban requests, and the dashboard. Free servers can ban for up to a month; up to a year is a Premium perk.

Bans on the dashboard

Moderation > Banned users now has Current bans, Temporary (with countdowns, Lift now, Make permanent and Change length) and Timer history. Ban by profile link or user ID, with a name-and-picture check before you confirm.

Instance pages

In Group Stats > Instances, each instance now has an occupancy chart in your own time zone, with the peak labeled and the event window drawn on it. The page also shows the world's picture and author, who opened the instance, average and peak attendance, and every kick or warn linked to its log.

Skipped logs say why

The log explorer now shows why a log wasn't posted (category off, no channel, history from before setup, and so on) instead of a bare "Skipped", with a new History filter.

Requests answered in VRChat update in Discord

Approve or deny a join request from VRChat's own request list and its Discord message updates with who did it, and the buttons go away.

New log: Group Request Withdraw

VRChat now withdraws some join requests itself, for example at the 200-group limit. These post with your other request logs, along with VRChat's reason.

Move your group to a new Discord server

If LogDog was removed from a server, the group's VRChat owner can run /setup in another server and the group moves there with its history, with no waiting out the hold.

Smoother setup

The setup page updates on its own while LogDog works, so there's no refreshing. If audit-log access hasn't been granted yet, LogDog reminds you after 1 day and after 7 days instead of waiting in silence. After 30 days without access, LogDog leaves the group but keeps your channel choices, so you can connect again whenever you're ready.

A snappier dashboard

Pressing Back in the log explorers brings your rows straight back, Group Stats pages open faster, and images load from cache. Dashboard CSV exports (a Premium perk) run one at a time, with a clear message if a range is too big.

Fixes

  • Setup asks for your group's vrchat.com link and explains why a vrc.group share link won't work.
  • Deleting a role sync mapping with "Delete and strip" works again once members have the VRChat role.

v1.23.0

Account relinking

Members who switch Discord accounts can relink their VRChat account themselves, with no admin needed. Linking is also more reliable after some under-the-hood changes.

User lookup overhaul

User lookup on the dashboard's Moderation page makes it easy to look through everything recorded about a user, and it now tracks username and profile picture changes in the same view.

Group history on every moderation log

Join requests, invites, joins, leaves, kicks, warnings, bans and unbans now always show the Group History field, even for someone with no history yet.

Fixes

  • Account linking, bio screening, and bios and pictures in lookups work again after VRChat changed how it shares profile details.
  • Adding or editing a reason no longer removes a log's other buttons, like Approve and Deny on a join request.

v1.20.0

Announcement posting

Create announcements for both Discord and VRChat. In Discord they can @ a role, and in VRChat they become group posts.

Announcement syncing (beta)

Sync announcements between Discord and VRChat in either direction or both, with a trigger role and an optional ping role. Set it up in the Announcements section of the dashboard's Settings.

Scheduled announcements

Schedule announcements for Discord, VRChat or both from the Announcements tab on the dashboard.

Log colors on the dashboard

Premium servers can now set embed colors per category or per event on the dashboard's Log routing page.

Role pings per log type

Set an @ role ping for each log type on the Log routing page.

Staff permissions on the dashboard

Choose which Discord roles can ban, answer join requests, add reasons or look people up from Settings > Feature Permissions. It's the same list /permissions uses, so you can manage staff access in either place.

A new server home page

Each server's dashboard opens on a new page with more stats and quick links to the newest features.

More world playlists

Free servers get 3 world playlists, up from 2. Premium goes from 10 to 25.

v1.17.0

Instance notices

When an instance opens, LogDog can post a message in a channel to let your members know, then update it once the instance closes. It can also @ roles, so members get pinged for each new instance. Set it up under /config or in the dashboard's Settings.

Past events

The Events page has a new Past events tab with basic stats, like the peak player count in each event's instance.

v1.16.0

Six weeks of work in one release: the dashboard became the place you run LogDog from, and the Discord logs got a lot smarter.

Event creation

Create events on the dashboard and they sync to Discord and VRChat, including recurring events.

Richer log embeds

Many VRChat audit log embeds now carry more useful information. Moderation logs, for example, show the person's past moderation in your group.

Settings on the dashboard

Configure log channels and server settings on the dashboard, where most of LogDog can now be viewed and changed.

Request screening

Check join requests against your own rules: account age, trust rank, age verification, past bans or denied requests, and blocked keywords. Requests that fail get flagged for your moderators, and auto-denying them is a Premium perk. Set it up on the dashboard or with /screening.

Role sync on the dashboard

Add, pause and remove your Discord to VRChat role mappings on the dashboard, re-sync members or retry failed changes, and see why a member did or didn't get a role.

Moderation and group stats

See how many moderation actions your group takes each month and who takes them, plus detailed graphs of your group's growth.

Instance stats

Group Stats on the dashboard now covers your instances too.

World playlists (beta)

Build playlists for your events. LogDog keeps track of when you last visited each world and suggests ones you haven't been to in a while, and members can suggest worlds through a panel.

Moderation history

Search a user's moderation history in your group: warnings, kicks, bans and join requests, with the moderator and reason when they were recorded.

Moderation reason presets

Set up your own default moderation reasons on the dashboard, then apply them with the Add reason button without typing them out.

Audit log search overhaul

A cleaner search on the dashboard, with more detail on each log. Admins can also add or edit a moderation reason right from a log's details.

CSV exports

Export filtered audit logs, LogDog activity or your ban list from the dashboard as a CSV, up to 10,000 rows at a time. Dashboard exports are a Premium perk.

Fixes

  • Account linking keeps checking while your code is valid, even if VRChat is still showing your old bio, and the Verify button lasts as long as the code.
  • Banning someone who is already banned no longer shows as a failed ban, and a second ban click says who already queued it.

v1.9.0

A quieter first sync

When you connect a group, LogDog posts up to 25 recent events to Discord, so your channels don't get spammed with the backfill. Older history that VRChat still has is saved too.

v1.7.1

Open instances panel

Use /config to set up a panel that keeps itself updated with your group's open instances and how many people are in each, including visitors in public and Group+ instances. Custom titles and images are a Premium perk.

v1.6.1

Member count channel

Show your VRChat group's member count in the name of a Discord voice channel, like VRC Members: 1,234, and LogDog keeps it up to date. Set it up with /config under Member Count. Custom names are a Premium perk.

Fixes

  • Links that verify after the Verify button stops checking now finish on their own, roles included.

v1.5.0

Role sync

Mirror a Discord role onto a VRChat group role for linked members. The VRChat role follows the Discord role as it changes, and is removed when someone leaves or unlinks. Set it up with /config.

Group stats

/groupstats gives a quick health check of your VRChat group: members, moderation activity, join requests and group activity over a time window you choose. It also lists your five most active moderators and comes with a daily CSV breakdown.

Notify the actor

/notify can now ping the moderator behind an action, like a kick, ban, warn or join-request response, through their linked Discord account. Turn it on per event with /notify actor.

Better ban requests

Ban requests have a Deny button. If a ban from a "Request a ban" escalation fails, the request message explains what happened and brings back the Ban and Deny buttons, so nothing gets stuck half done.

Link confirmations

After linking a VRChat account, members get a DM confirming the link, their age status, and any roles they were given. If their DMs are closed, LogDog skips it quietly.

Ban list export

/ban list now includes a CSV with each ban's date, username and VRChat user ID.

See who changed what

/auditlog shows who changed settings or took moderation actions through LogDog in your server. Filter by member or category, and download up to 5,000 recent entries as a CSV.

Live group count

LogDog's Discord status shows how many VRChat groups it's logging.

v1.0.9

Approve and deny join requests from Discord

Join request logs now have Approve, Deny, and Deny & Block buttons. The log updates with who acted on it, and you can attach a reason. Requests also show the person's avatar, age, trust rank and bio, so you can vet them at a glance.

Look up any VRChat user

/getvrcuser pulls a full profile into Discord: age verification, trust rank, status, bio, badges, avatar, join date and last login.

Moderation history in Discord

/getmodhistory shows a user's warns, kicks, bans and request outcomes in your group, newest first, with a bans, kicks and warns summary up top.

Moderator activity

/getmodactivity sums up what a staff member has done in your group: bans, approvals, kicks, warnings and role changes, with a CSV of the details. If they've linked their VRChat account, their Discord and VRChat actions show up together.

Permissions in one place

/permissions grants roles access to specific features: reasons, approvals, bans, lookups and mod history. Admins have every feature by default.

Account linking and age verification

Members link their VRChat account with a one-time code in their bio and get roles automatically: a Linked role, plus an optional 18+ role based on VRChat's own age verification. Set it up per server, with optional cross-server trust, /reverify and /unlink. Customizing the linking message is a Premium perk.

The /config panel

One place to configure server features, like account linking or sending every ban request to a dedicated channel.

Ban improvements

A dedicated ban-request channel, clearer errors when VRChat refuses a ban, and more reliable ban-list syncing.

Fixes

  • Role rename logs post again, now with the old and new name.
  • /ban list and /getmodhistory no longer get stuck when there's a lot to show.

v1.0.2

Ban from Discord

New ban commands, plus a Ban button on some logs, like instance kicks and warns. LogDog's account needs the "Manage Group Bans" permission in your group, and /ban configure add chooses which roles can ban.

Ban requests

If you'd rather not limit banning to admins, moderators can request a ban instead, which pings the role you choose.

Color previews

The /events color picker now shows an example embed, so you can see your custom colors before you save them. Custom colors are a Premium perk.

Per-event pings

Get pinged for specific events, like every time someone is banned, with /notify add.

A redesigned logdog.gg

The website got a full overhaul.

v1.0.1

A channel per event or category

In /events, the Channel button moves any event, or a whole category, to a different channel at any time, or resets it to the default. In /setup's Custom mode, each category can use one channel or a channel per event type.

Let other roles add reasons

Admins can let specific roles, like Moderators, add and edit reasons on moderation logs without full admin. Use /reason-access add, remove and list, with several roles at once.

Fixes

  • Setup warns you when it can't post progress updates in the channel you ran it in, and falls back to your log channels so you don't miss a step.

Official releasev1.0.0

LogDog is out of beta, with the features beta testers asked for most.

Formatting for every event

Every event type now has its own formatting instead of showing up as a raw JSON block.

Automatic onboarding

/setup gets new groups configured without waiting on a DM or manual setup. Express creates three log channels for you, Prebuilt makes one per category, and Custom uses channels you already have. It can also remove the bot.

Moderation reasons

Staff can add a reason to moderation logs, like why someone was banned, and edit it later.

Choose your events

The new /events command turns individual event types on or off. If you only want kicks and bans, you can have just that.

Custom embed colors

Give any event type its own embed color with a hex code. Custom colors are a Premium perk.

Documentation

docs.logdog.gg covers every event LogDog monitors, how everything is configured, and how to use each command.

v0.8.8

Cleaner logs

Logs moved to a less cluttered, easier to read format, with automatic links to users and roles.

Readable role permission changes

Group role permission updates show which permissions were added or removed, instead of a wall of old and new permissions.

v0.8.7

Easier to read logs

Over 20 event types moved to a cleaner, easier to read format.

v0.5.0

Instance creation logs

Group instance creation logs have a new format, laying the groundwork for world details like the world's name and picture.

Open betav0.1.0

LogDog's open beta went live.

Closed alphav0.0.42

LogDog's closed alpha went live.
